We’re launching a content experiment here at Our Future, and our goal with today’s issue is 1) for you to understand our strategy behind this idea and 2) enlist your help in testing it out.
As you probably know, we pivoted from a podcast-first media brand to a TikTok-first media brand this past summer.
Every day since early August, we’ve dropped one 30-40s video story about the world of business and startups.
The results have been promising: our videos receive on average over 10M views per month on TikTok and more recently, over 1M+ per month on both Instagram and YouTube.
In just two months, we’ve gone from a little podcast in my childhood bedroom to one of the internet’s biggest business content sources, and have secured sponsorships with companies like Morning Brew, Public.com, and Index Ventures.
But there’s always a catch… so what is it for Our Future?
We depend on algorithms. Such beautiful, yet ugly, organisms they are!
Not only do we submit our daily destiny to the data-loving gods of TikTok, Zuck, et. al, but we depend on our target audience using social media apps to see our creations each day.
As a brand that creates content for young entrepreneurs and business leaders, we understand that our target audience is busy and might not have time to be perusing TikTok or Instagram to get their daily dose of inspiration.
This is why we’re announcing the beta program for a new content delivery system.
In this two-week program, Our Future beta users will receive both:
📲 One email per day.
📬 One text message per day.
In each of these communications, you’ll be notified of Our Future’s new daily video, with the option to watch the video version or read the story in an article form.
Our goal with this experiment is to:
☕️ Be a refreshing 30s shot of edutainment in your busy day
🤔 Figure out whether our audience prefers content delivery on SMS or Email
🤜 Become a daily part of your life, even when you don’t use IG or TikTok
There will not be any Sunday newsletters sent out over the next two weeks and you may opt-out of this text & email program whenever you wish.
At the conclusion of the beta, we will crunch data and figure out how to best move forward with our content experience.
